What is a White tea?

White tea is the least processed of all tea types—made from the tender buds and young leaves, simply withered and dried. This minimal processing preserves its delicate flavors, soft floral notes, and natural sweetness.

How is this white tea different from Moonlight White teas?

Moonlight White teas are typically more flavorful and intensely floral, with a pronounced fragrance and richer body. In contrast, this Spring White tea is lighter and more delicate—valued for its subtlety, crispness, and clean finish.

It offers a gentler expression of Darjeeling’s spring, perfect for those who appreciate nuance over intensity.

Why does this tea not have an estate name to it?

This isn’t a single-origin tea but a carefully crafted blend of select teas from 4–5 Darjeeling estates. Our master tasters blend with precision to achieve a balanced, signature profile — offering a cup that reflects the region’s character in a distinctive way.

Is this tea caffeine-free?

No, it naturally contains caffeine—though in lower amounts than black or green teas. A typical cup may have 15–30 mg of caffeine, depending on leaf size, cultivar, and steeping time.

Can I cold-steep this tea?

Yes! Cold-steeping brings out its sweet, mellow notes beautifully. Use 3-4 tsp of tea per 240 ml of cold water. Let it steep in the fridge for 3–4 hours. Strain and enjoy chilled.

Alternatively, you can also brew it hot and pour over ice for a refreshing twist.

How long will this tea stay fresh?

When stored well—away from light, heat, oxygen and moisture—it will retain peak freshness for up to 12 months. We recommend an airtight container kept in a cool, dry place.

The lone white tea in my sampler

Wanted something different this evening so finally opened the one special spring white in my tea sampler box & wasn’t disappointed. Light & fresh, it brewed up a brilliant yellow-gold. The tasting notes claimed cantaloupe but thankfully, I couldn’t detect that (I hate cantaloupe ha-ha). I was surprised that you appear to need more of these leaves - it said about 3 tsps per cup. It does appear to be more loosely packed, so that may be why you get fewer teaspoons per spoonful. Anyway, a good option for something different.
